Common Questions About the Personal SOS GPS Tracker 4G

Common Questions About the Personal SOS GPS Tracker 4G

At Oz Smart Things, we often receive questions about the functionality and setup of the Personal SOS GPS Tracker 4G. Below, we’ve compiled answers to two of the most frequently asked questions to help customers optimize their device’s performance.

1. Why Does My Tracker Keep Sending "Left the Fence" and "Returned to the Fence" Alerts Even When It’s Stationary?

Issue: Customers have reported that after setting up the Geofence at the minimum size of 100m, they receive continuous alerts such as "Left the fence" and "Returned to the fence" every 30 seconds to 1 minute, even when the tracker is not moving.

Explanation: This issue is caused by GPS drift, which occurs when the device is in an area with a poor GPS signal. GPS accuracy can fluctuate, leading the tracker to falsely detect movement in and out of the geofence.

Solution:

  • Increase the geofence size to greater than 100m to accommodate small GPS inaccuracies.

  • Ensure the tracker is placed in an area with a strong GPS signal, ideally near a window or outdoors.

  • If using the device indoors, consider moving it closer to a window to improve accuracy.

2. Why Doesn’t My Tracker Pick Up Calls?

Issue: Some customers have experienced issues where the tracker rings when they call the ALDI SIM card number, but when they press the call button on the tracker, the call does not connect.

Additionally, when trying to set an SOS number in the Device Settings, they receive the message: "Failed to get the card information."

Solution:

  1. First, send an SMS command to the device to check its firmware version:

    000000,C02
  2. If the device does not respond, verify that the SIM card:

    • Has sufficient balance for calls.

    • Is properly inserted into the tracker.

    • Has mobile data and voice services enabled.

  3. If the issue persists, restart the tracker and try again.
